Missouri Trout Season Begins With a Bang

April 15, 2024

The wait was over with the ceremonial firing of a starter pistol at 6:30 a.m. on March 1. The highly anticipated opening day of the 2024 catch-and-keep trout season in Missouri began with a flourish at Montauk State Park, in Salem, and Roaring River State Park, in Cassville.  Cool weather and cloudy skies that day did not deter eager anglers. This beloved tradition celebrates fishing, family, and nature, drawing generations of anglers every year to these two of the state’s three trout Parks.

About 2,000 fishermen flocked to Montauk State Park, which is a popular site for fishing that ExplorUS has been privileged to operate since 2019. Besides the scenery and excellent fishing, the Park also features Montauk Lodge and cabins for overnight stays, a full-service restaurant, and a gift shop that carries plenty of fishing supplies, including hand-tied flies made by locals, as well as camping supplies, apparel, and souvenirs.

We began our operations at Roaring River State Park earlier this year. Found in the scenic southwest Ozark hills, ExplorUS manages the historic Emory Melton Inn, which includes a full-service restaurant, and meeting rooms; the Civilian Conservation Corps Lodge; rental cabins; and the Park Store.
