A rare planetary alignment is creating a unique opportunity for our Park visitors to experience the night sky in a whole new way! From January to March, a phenomenon dubbed the Planet Parade will be visible. Six planets — Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Saturn — will align in the evening sky, visible even without a telescope in locations away from city lights. Several of our sites are embracing the celestial show to create engaging guest experiences.
The team at Roaring River State Park in southern Missouri is inviting guests to enjoy the “stargazing” experience with lodging and food and beverage offerings designed to complement the event. Also in Missouri, the lodge at Echo Bluff State Park is leaning into the planet theme with specials, creating a fun and immersive way for visitors to connect with the event. Both Parks’ locations and their peaceful settings make them ideal destinations for parade viewing.
In Southern California, a winter promotion at Lake Hemet Campground is encouraging campers to chill out and take advantage of the views with a tent, RV, cabin, or glamping tent.
This is just one way that our teams are embracing the advantages of their natural settings to bring new energy to the winter season.
